Any pain relieving ideas for TMJ?

I was just diagnosed for TMJ earlier today and i am in SOOOOO much pain! Does anyone have the same disorder and any ideas to relieve the pain? I've taken motrin and have stayed away from hard foods. Is there anything else i can do??? I feel like i cant even eat anything because the pain is so intense!!!!!
