Can you preserve gr sod? And if you can, how?

I am having a builder come to build a garage in my back yard. It is a big garage, so hauling cement and other things to the back yard, is really going to ruin my gr. Since the garage is going where there is gr now, I was wondering if I could get a sod cutter, cut the sod, and then when the builders are done, I could lay the sod back out again. The only problem is the garage is going to take around 4 weeks to build. Can sod live that long. And how do I preserve it if it can. Thanks.
