What is the best thing to do with old shredded wheat cereal?

I buy cereal in the big bags, well, I used to because the last three bags of imitation Mini-wheats smell old and aren't even edible. I do not want to throw them away though and want them to go to some good use to some animal. What animal can eat them besides ants. I want to actually help an animal with this.
